Data Guard does not collect, store, transmit, or share any user data. All detection happens locally inside your browser.

What the extension does

Data Guard monitors the text you type into the input box on supported AI chat websites (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini). It checks that text against a set of local pattern-matching rules to detect potentially sensitive information, such as:

• Social Security Numbers
• Credit card numbers
• API keys
• Phone numbers
• Street addresses
• Passwords
• Health-related information

If a match is found, a warning banner is displayed on the page. The extension does not block, modify, or intercept your message in any way — it is purely informational.

What data is collected

None. Data Guard does not:

• Send any text you type to a server
• Store any text, logs, or history — locally or remotely
• Use cookies, analytics, or tracking of any kind
• Share any information with third parties

All detection logic runs entirely within your browser using JavaScript pattern matching. Once you navigate away from a page, nothing about your input is retained anywhere.

Permissions

Data Guard requests no special browser permissions. It only runs as a content script on the specific AI chat websites listed in its manifest, and only reads the text currently visible in the active input box on those pages.

Third-party services

Data Guard does not integrate with, call, or send data to any third-party service, API, or analytics provider.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in the future, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "last updated" date.
